Extpatriate at work in Laos

1998 Philippe et Raymonde Klopfenstein, with Pierre, Timothée and Déborah, doctor and mid-wife, arrived in Laos in June 1994. They first worked with MSF in Champassak. During that time, they prepared the medical project in Attapeu, in order to rehabilitate the health services in the province, where they opened the project and served from June 1998 to June 2001. Philippe came back in Laos from October to November 2001 in order to introduce his successor.
Béatrice Klopfenstein, nurse, worked in the medical project in Attapeu from August 1998 to February 1999.
Eric et Emmanuelle Rychen, with Jessica, Florence et Madeline. Eric has been in charge of the logistics for the Attpaue medical project from July 1998 to May 2000.
1999 Christine Rediger has works as a nurse in the hospital project Attapeu province from October 1999 to December 2002
2000 Philippe et Babette Schmidt have worked with SFE from April 2000 to December 2007. Philippe is a doctor and has been Director of SFE during all this time. Babette is an artist. She was in charge of the handicraft departement. They set up Mai Savanh Lao (MSL), a local fair trade enterprise involved in silk production, silk products and other local Lao products. Since 2008, Philippe and Babette have been involved full time in MSL.
Antoine et Onn Donzel, with Ludovic and Julien. Antoine was in charge of the logistics for the medical project in Attapeu, from September 2000 to June 2005.
2001 Reinhard et Chong-A Kring, with Carina, Esther and Silas (the children were born during they stay in Laos). Reinhard is a docter, and has been project manager for the medical project in Attapeu from July 2001 to June 2003.
Sylvie Peterschmitt, is a nurse. She worked within the hospital project in Attapeu from December 2001 to July 2005.
2002 Lukas et Jutta Blaser, with Noah, Elias and Simea (born during their stay) arrived in Laos in July 2002. Lukas was based in Vientiane as coordinator for the silk project in preparation, and became technical project manager at the silk farm in Luang Namtha from October 2003 to April 2007.
2003 Melinda Kim is a nurse. She came in Laos in 2000 as a Corean voluntary worker. She joined SFE in 2003 to work with the medical project in Attapeu, then moved to the medical project in Luang Namtha in February 2006 to June 2010.
2004 Alex et Silke Korte, with Silas, Elias and Jason (born during their stay). Alex is a surgeon, and was in charge of the partnership programme with the Friendship Hospital in Vientiane from July 2004 to November 2005.
Michael et Isabelle Mattmüller, with Lisa and Lea (born during their stay). Michael is an ingineer in agronomy in Isabelle is a doctor. Michael took over the responsability of project manager in the silk project in Luang Namtha after Lukas Blaser, from October 2004 to April 2007. Isabelle worked for the medical training in this province. When the project was closed in 2007, they came in Vientiane and Michael worked at the head office until October 2007.
Günther et Rosemarie Slesak, with Beatrice, Marc and Corrinna (the two younger children were born during their stay). Günther is a doctor. He has been project manager for the medical project at the provincial hospital in Luang Namtha, from December 2004 to June 2010.
2005 Aude Grosrenaudis a nurse and worked as coordinator for the Sekong province medical project and as trainer for the staff of the tuberculosis prevention, monitoring and treatment programme from October 2005. She married Vanh Kèovongkhot mid-June 2010 and Aude has been supporting the tuberculosis project from Vientiane and providing cultural orientation to new expatriates until July 2012.
Frédéric et Béatrice Pignard, with Jonathan, Loriane et Mathilde. Frédéric, engineer, has been office administrator in Vientiane from August 2005 to June 2007.
Daniel et Bettina Brobeck, with Anaïs. Daniel is a doctor, and was project manager of our medical project in Attapeu from November 2005 to January 2007.
2006 Vincent et Sylvie Amstutz, with Pauline, Emma et Benjamin (who was born during their stay). Vincent is a doctor, He worked in the medical project in Attapeu from July 2006 to May 2010. He took over from Daniel Brobeck as project manager in January 2007, and was also Director of SFE from January 2008 to May 2010.
2007 Luc and Floriane Niess with Maya (3-Mar-2009) and Hugo (2-Feb-2011) worked in Laos from September 2007 to July 2012. Luc is a nurse and worked in our medical project in Attapeu province. Floriane is a mid-wife. She worked in the follow-up of obstetrics and gynecology as well as in the Mother and Child Care Programme. Luc has been executive Director from June 2010 to their return in France in 2012.
Jacky et Marguerite Besnier. Jacky, technicien forestier, has been project manager for the silk project in Sekong province, from June 2007 to January 2009.
Frédéric et Sandrine Huissoud, with Mégane, Bastien et Melvin. Frédéric, engineer, has been office administrator from in Vientiane, from August 2007 to June 2009
2009 Marc et Catherine Lebreuil, with Matthieu, Alice et Eliott. Marc, engeneer, has been office administrator from August 2009 to July 2011.
  Nathanaël Rediger arrived in Laos in August 2009. He lived in Sekong province and has been technical coordinator for the second phase of the silk development project in the province. Since August 2013, he has been in charge of the new Community Agriculture and Development Project. He worked in Laos from August 2009 to May 2015.
2010 Esther Rauen arrived in Laos in February 2010. Dietitian with a master in international health, she lived in Attapeu and has been coordinator of the Community Health Development Project in continuation of our long term medical involvement in the province. She worked in Laos from February 2010 to December 2015.
2010 Nathanaël and Marie-Joëlle Schildknecht (with Matteo (4-Feb-2010), Alissa Keo (20-Oct-2011) and Luca Khamdee (20-Jul-2013). Nathanaël has been administrator then Executive Director of SFE in Laos since July 2012. Marie-Joëlle helped to welcome newcomers and in communication. They have worked in Laos from November 2010 to June 2017.
2011 Célio and Elise Nelson (with Noah, Sarah and Isaac). Célio has been helping Nathanaël Rediger in the coordination of the Community Agriculture and Development Project, and was in charge of the project administration and logistics. Élise has been exploring new projects and was in charge of the liasing with the donors. They worked in Laos from July 2011 to April 2014.
2011 Christian et Nathalie Poschung. Nathalie has been in charge of the Tuberculosis Project in Sekong province, and involved in quality control in different laboratories in the provinces of Sekong andAttapeu. Christian was in charge of the logistics of these projects, English teaching and IT. They have worked in Laos from January 2011 to April 2014.
2015 Sophie Hege. Sophie Hege, agronomist, has worked in du Thateng – Participative Community Development Project.She has worked in Laos from August 2015 to December 2018.
2015 Jonatan Mueller. Jonatan Mueller, agronomist, has worked in the Attapeu Community Development Project. He has worked in Laos from May 2015 to November 2018.
2016 Stéphane et Aimée Berger. Stéphane and Aimée, nurses, have worked in the preparation and the start-up of the health and education project in Salavan.
In between, they have served as trainees in the
Participative Community Development Project
in Sekong province.
They have worked in Laos from November 2016 to January 2018.
